Biography
Tibetan master of Buddhist teachings, author, world teacher and traveler. Educated at a Buddhist monastery, he studied philosophy and meditation until forced into exile by the Chinese take-over. Associated with disciple Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, they traveled and taught world wide. In 1975 he founded the "Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition." In February of 1984 he suffered a stroke followed by his death a few weeks later in Los Angeles 3/03/1984 5:07 AM PST. His following successive reincarnation was born as a child to Spanish parents February 1985, Osel Hita y Torres Rinpoche.

Hans Taeger quotes him in 1990 for 5:00 AM as Lama Yeshe was his teacher. Pamela Austrin called October 1990 to say that there was no record of his time or even date of birth, "probably March." She suggested that we check with Lama Sopa, who is now the teacher of Hita Y Torres. Vicki Mackenzie in "The Boy Lama," writes that the boy who took over as the reincarnation of Lama Yeshe was not crowned head of the Buddhists but was given his robes and made a Lama.
Hans Taeger wrote "I am the only one of the students to whom he gave his birth data, ascertained after a long, serious meditation. Not even his main follower, Lama Zopa, who is also a teacher of mine since I was 16, would know about his birth data."
